Dynamic Demon Bailey Laurie has signed a new two-year contract extension which will see him in the red and blue until at least the end of 2024.
The 19-year-old has been impressive during his VFL performances with the Casey Demons, averaging 16 disposals and a goal across eight matches, and continues to push his case for AFL selection.
Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb said Laurie has improved his game to become a high-level player and he is excited about what the future holds for him.
“Bailey has developed well, and we are pleased that he has committed for another two seasons,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.
“He had a strong off-season and has improved his game to the point that he has found himself on the verge of senior selection, being named an emergency a number of times for our AFL side.
“Bailey had a really challenging first season in 2021, suffering some reasonably serious injuries and when he was ready to go, unfortunately Covid halted the VFL, meaning he only got to play two genuine games.
“Bailey is a really professional young player who works hard on all areas of his game.
“We are looking forward to watching him continue to develop and improve over the next two seasons."
Laurie, who was selected by the Demons with pick No. 22 of the 2020 Draft, has silky skills and a great ability to read the game.
