Ben Brown is no stranger to coaching.
Having had previous experiences with development roles in women’s football programs including North Melbourne’s AFLW program, Brown was ready to take the next step when he arrived at Melbourne.
After a year of settling into the club, he has now become an official member of Melbourne’s AFLW coaching panel for the 2022 season, joining his first training session last week at Gosch’s Paddock.
Two exciting additions to complete our coaching panel. 🙌

“I’ve always loved being involved in women’s footy,” Brown told Melbourne Media.
“I have been for a fair few years now and to get that opportunity again after a bit of a hiatus with Covid, is fantastic.”
The forward, who is coming off the back of an AFL premiership, has joined on as a specialist coach working across a number of key areas around the ground.
“I’ll look to help out Justin Crough, who does some work with the rucks and keys and we’ll tag team that role a bit,” Brown said.
“I’ll look to come once a week mainly on a Thursday night and to get to whichever games I’m able to get to.
With the 2022 season fast approaching, the 29-year-old is excited to get started, with the belief that it’ll be a learning opportunity for both himself and the players.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to know the players and hopefully providing what I can to them and learning a bit form them as well,” Brown said.
“When you’re coaching with a group that’s really driven like they are, it makes it exciting.”
