Casey claims top spot
Casey Scorpions notched up their fourth consecutive win of the season defeating Williamstown by 23 points at Casey Fields on Saturday night
Casey 14.8 (92) defeated Williamstown 9.15 (69).
Key forward Chris Dawes made his long-awaited return after missing most of the NAB Cup and opening three rounds of the season with a hamstring injury.
Dawes contributed to Casey’s win with two majors and provide a good presence up forward with nine disposals, two marks and two tackles.
Ruckman/forward Jack Fitzpatrick continued his good form in the VFL, kicking four goals and gathering 15 possessions. Fitzpatrick also helped Jake Spencer with ruck duties.
Spencer who had 42 hitouts, 15 disposals and three tackles, continually provided the midfielders with first use of the ball in a hard-fought contest.
Utility Lynden Dunn was very good, kicking two goals and winning 35 possessions, 11 marks and three tackles.
Youngster Jesse Hogan went off early with an injury and did not return.
Other major ball winners were James Magner (32), Tom Couch (28) and Joel Macdonald (21).
Dunn, Couch, Fitzpatrick, Magner and Spencer were among Casey’s best.
Casey will take on Port Melbourne next Saturday afternoon at North Port Oval, aiming to continue its outstanding start to the season.
