MELBOURNE young gun Luke Jackson has been recognised for his standout year in the red and blue, winning the 2021 NAB AFL Rising Star Award.
The 19-year-old was nominated for his Round 7 performance against North Melbourne, where he registered 22 disposals, seven contested possessions, one goal and six score involvements.
The Round 7 nomination was his second in two years, being first recognised last year for his Round 10 game where he collected five score involvements, three inside 50s and 14 hit-outs.
Jackson first joined the Demons in 2019 when he was drafted with pick No.3 at the National Draft alongside teammates Trent Rivers and Kysaiah Pickett.
Since first donning the red and blue, Jackson has worked closely with skipper Max Gawn and Forward Coach Greg Stafford, sharpening his craft as a ruckman, while also developing his goal-kicking skills.
This continued growth has established him as a versatile player who has the ability to make an impact across multiple areas of the ground.
Jackson will make his AFL finals debut this weekend when the Demons take on the Lions at Adelaide Oval.
