As Melbourne Football Club's first-ever Premiership captain-coach, Sir Albert Chadwick is an integral part of the club’s history.

On top of his successful AFL career, Chadwick had a life filled with a number of achievements including time in the Australian Flying Corps in World War One to his MCC Presidency from 1965 to 1979.

This rich life story has now been documented in a detailed biography, Chadwick: A Man of Many Parts, authored by Nick Richardson (The Game of their Lives).

The book is the first title to be released by the Melbourne Cricket Club, under its Publishing Support Program.

MCC President Michael Happell celebrated the work done by Richardson in Chadwick: A Man of Many Parts.

“Nick has done a great job tackling a complex character, in particular in chronicling his extraordinary contribution to our Club,” Mr Happell said.

“There are some fascinating sections, including the challenge of securing the MCG as the main stadium for the 1956 Olympic Games and the early 1970s public relations campaign promoting the MCG over VFL Park, as two examples.”

The limited-edition Chadwick: A Man of Many Parts (published by the Melbourne Cricket Club) is available via the MCG Shop.
