NEVILLE Jetta says he has no lingering concerns after an injury-marred 2015 season.
Jetta missed four weeks after sustaining a concussion against Richmond in round four, before going down with a neck injury later in the season.
Reflecting on his year, Jetta said it was “frustrating” to have injury dominate his season after he was elevated back onto the senior list in 2015.
“I had the concussion that I had to get over earlier in the year and then I had the four-week lay-off. I had the neck injury as well so I had to come to terms with it,” he told Dee TV.
“I got back to play, but it was more the inconsistency and stop-starting and trying to get going again, which was the hardest thing.”
Unafraid to put his body on the line, Jetta said that he initially struggled to accept his injuries, particularly after his concussion.
“Being me, I didn’t want to say, ‘I’m not going to play. I’m going to be out there playing every week’. To hear the doctors say ‘You’re not going to be playing for a good amount of time’, which was four weeks in the end was hard,” he said.
“The first part was getting over that denial – that I was having concussions and having symptoms and then following that into a break to clear it up.”
Jetta said despite the impact the concussion and other injuries had on his season, he believes that they won’t affect him in 2016.
“Once I got through that, I haven’t had any other symptoms or anything else bother me, so I’m pretty confident in it now,” he said.
“I have to go year-by-year; that’s the way it got me back on the list. I’ll just keep going about my business – that’s the way I’ve always gone about it.”
