CASEY has moved to second on the ladder after defeating Essendon by 33 points at Windy Hill on Sunday.

The Scorpions 16.11 (107) defeated the Bombers 10.14 (74).

Midfielder Aidan Riley, who was an emergency for Melbourne in round five, impressed with 23 disposals.

Big man Jack Fitzpatrick (24 touches), ball-winner Matt Jones (28) and utility Rohan Bail (23) were also among Casey’s best.

Ruckman/forward Max Gawn booted three goals.

Rookie James Harmes also booted two majors.
