MELBOURNE will be well represented in this year’s Big Freeze event, with much-loved Demons Jeff Farmer and Daisy Pearce set to slide.
The pair were announced as sliders by Neale Daniher on Friday night and will prepare to hit the ice on Queen’s Birthday, ahead of the annual Melbourne versus Collingwood match at the MCG.
Umpire Ray Chamberlain, former Adelaide player and commentator Abbey Holmes and Hawthorn legend Shane Crawford have also been revealed as confirmed starters, with five more to be announced next week.
The sliders’ efforts will see funds and awareness raised for Fight MND, to help in finding a cure for motor neurone disease.
Every day, at least two Australians are diagnosed with MND, while at least two people lose their lives from the awful disease.
Since the inaugural Big Freeze in 2015, the event has gone from strength to strength, with Daniher and his team leading the way in the fight – more than $45 million has gone to research initiatives.
