DEFENDER Joel Macdonald can accept a $900 sanction with an early plea for wrestling St Kilda’s Nick Winmar.

Macdonald was charged by the match review panel for a first offence wrestle during the half-time break of last Saturday’s clash at Etihad Stadium.

A first offence for wrestling is a $1200 sanction.

An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a $900 sanction.

The MRP also assessed two incidents involving Clint Bartram, but no further action was taken.

The match day reporting of St Kilda’s Jason Blake for striking Bartram was dropped. The panel said that based on a medical report from Melbourne and the available video evidence, the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.

And contact between Bartram and Winmar from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was assessed.

The panel said Winmar had taken possession of the ball and was moving quickly towards the boundary when Bartram tackled him. It added Bartram took Winmar to the ground with the momentum of his tackle in a continuous motion.

It was the view of the panel that the force used was not unreasonable in the circumstances and Winmar was not slung to the ground with excessive force.
