$140,000 loan for Schwab
By Caroline Wilson

THE Melbourne Football Club last year loaned chief executive Cameron Schwab $140,000 for a property transaction. The Demons' vice-president, Don McLardy, confirmed the personal loan was made during the club's last financial year, which also saw the final stage of Melbourne's debt demolition - culminating in the wiping out of the club's debt that had been more than $4 million when president Jim Stynes came to power. ''Cameron came to us and asked if we could assist in a transaction,'' McLardy told The Age. ''We saw it as an investment in one of our key personnel. It is a personal matter for Cameron.'' There is no suggestion of financial impropriety.
