MIDFIELDER Colin Sylvia is likely to play against Collingwood in next Monday’s clash at the MCG, but ruckman Mark Jamar looks certain to miss again.

Sylvia suffered a corked thigh in the first half against Essendon last Friday night and was replaced by substitute Daniel Nicholson; Jamar has missed the past four matches with a knee injury.

“He’s [Jamar] more likely not to play, I reckon, Rush,” coach Dean Bailey said.

“Colin Sylvia got a corkie out of the game, but he seems to be moving OK today, which is a really good sign for us, so I don’t think he’ll miss.

“[Luke] Tapscott is probably close to selection, but outside of that, I think they might be a couple of weeks away, before those blokes start to come back.”

Bailey said ruckman Max Gawn, who made his AFL debut against the Dons, was expected to remain in the side.

“I’d like to think so,” he said.

“Maxy is still going through that great mark he took. He hasn’t talked about the kick after that, but it would be great experience for him.

“I don’t see why he wouldn’t play this week, unless he gets injured during training.”

With Casey defeating Sandringham in the VFL on the weekend, Bailey said several players were also in contention for the Queen’s Birthday clash.

“Whether there will be a few changes, we’ll wait and see, but the team played well on Friday night,” he said.

“Some of the guys played very well in the VFL - Matty Bate was very good yesterday and [Ricky] Petterd as well. Ricky played well against Collingwood last year.

“Matty Warnock was good and young [Lucas] Cook, a developing player, was good, and it was great to see Robbie Campbell get through a game. So there is still a bit of depth there and pressure for spots, which is really what we’re trying to create.”
