MELBOURNE has named a 26-man squad for Monday’s AAMI Community Series match against the Western Bulldogs.
A few fresh faces are among those selected for the clash at Marvel Stadium, with James Jordon, Jake Bowey and Bailey Laurie included in the Dees’ extended line-up.
After impressive off-seasons, utility Tom McDonald has been named on the wing, while Luke Jackson, Kade Chandler and Toby Bedford have all earned a spot in the side.
Experienced campaigners Nathan Jones and Neville Jetta have also need selected.
But the Dees will be without Clayton Oliver and Christian Salem, who are both being managed ahead of Melbourne’s season-opener.
“Clayton has some general soreness and as a club, we are taking a cautious approach to ensure he’s ready to go for Round 1,” GM of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson told Melbourne Media.
“Christian has some hamstring tightness and will also miss the clash against the Western Bulldogs.
“At this stage, we anticipate Christian will be available for Round 1 selection in a fortnight’s time.”
Angus Brayshaw will also sit this one out, instead featuring for the Casey Demons in a VFL practice match at Whitten Oval earlier in the day.
Melbourne will return to Marvel Stadium for the first time since Round 2 of the 2020 season, in what will be its final official hit-out of the pre-season.
The match kicks off at 3.10pm AEDT. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
