RUCKMAN Mark Jamar says he’s fully prepared for the 2015 season, after battling injuries in recent pre-seasons.
Jamar said he was “feeling better than ever” and ready to make the most of the upcoming year.
“[It is season] number 14 for me, not that I’ve been out there for every game each year, but I’m really looking forward to it and I’m excited. I think we’re in a pretty good position – on and off the field,” he told Dee TV.
“We’ve got this week to freshen up before we get into round one, so I can’t wait to get out there with all of the boys. I’m sure each and every one of them are [feeling] the same and are looking forward to getting out there and getting stuck into it.
“The amount of work that I’ve done [has been good]. The fitness staff and the coaches have been pretty smart with managing each player differently and according to their needs at different times.
“With my age, at 31, I need to be a little bit smarter and I’ve managed to put together a good pre-season. Let’s see if that can progress into a good season ahead.”
Jamar said his personal aim for the year was to play all 22 rounds.
“The big one for me is to play every game,” he said.
“You’ve got to be in good form to play every game, but also the body needs to be in good nick. You’ve got to be durable and put in a lot of time off the field to manage it and get up for each week.
“So that’s definitely a big one for me.”
