THE MELBOURNE Football Club is pleased to announce a new partnership with winemakers Bleasdale Vineyards.
The two-year deal will see the renowned company, which produces out of Langhorne Creek in South Australia, become the official Wine Partner of the Demons.
Robbie Potts, descendant of Bleasdale’s founder Frank Potts, said he was excited for the two rich brands to be coming together.
“Both Bleasdale and the Melbourne Football Club are steeped in history, and both were pioneers in their fields,” he told Melbourne Media.
“While my great, great grandfather Frank was planting Langhorne Creek’s first vines in the 1850s, the Melbourne Football Club was busy establishing itself as the first footy team and helping to write the rules of the game.
“The alignment with Melbourne is a great opportunity for Bleasdale to share our wines with the Club’s member base.”
Bleasdale General Manager Leigh Warren reinforced the company’s delight in the new venture, and its intentions for the future.
“We’re committed to a long and successful partnership with the Melbourne Football Club, and are looking forward to getting over to Melbourne to catch a game or two next year,” he told Melbourne Media.
Known for its vibrant Langhorne Creek reds, crisp Adelaide Hills white and flavourful fortified wines, Bleasdale has established itself as one of Australia’s top wineries.
It has been awarded 55 trophies and over 500 medals across various wine competitions in the past decade, with the 2018 Max Schubert Trophy and the 2019 Jimmy Watson Trophy the most esteemed of recent years.
Melbourne’s Chief Commercial Officer, George de Crespigny, said the club was thrilled to be welcoming Bleasdale to the red and blue.
