COMING off a four-point loss to the Lions, Melbourne may look to make some adjustments to its side come Round 9.
And if spots are to open up for the trip to The Gabba, plenty of Demons are putting up their hands.
Take a look at five potential inclusions for the clash with Port Adelaide on Thursday night.
Tom McDonald
After overcoming an eye injury, Tom McDonald was unlucky to miss selection last weekend.
The key forward has plenty of credits in the bank and kicked four goals in Friday’s practice match.
Luke Jackson and Sam Weideman are performing well, so the coaches could potentially opt for a three-tall set-up forward of the ball.
Joel Smith
Joel Smith was one of the better players on the field in the mixed scratch match, with his intercept marking a highlight for his side.
The defender has played three games this season, and would be battling it out for Oscar McDonald’s role as the third tall down back.
It’s tight for positions in the 22, but Smith will be ready when his second chance arises.
Adam Tomlinson
Since being left out of the Round 6 side in Sydney, Adam Tomlinson hasn’t played any form of footy.
As the carry over emergency, the former Giant has missed the past two practice matches, but his effort on the training track has never wavered.
The Demons have struggled to fill that void on the wing, so Tomlinson may be in contention for a call-up this week.
Alex Neal-Bullen
Alex Neal-Bullen is as reliable as they come.
His standards on and off the field are a benchmark for his teammates, and his performances in the practice matches have been consistent at half-forward.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played senior footy since Round 2, but much like those mentioned above, he’s eagerly awaiting another opportunity.
Tom Sparrow
While Tom Sparrow has played just two-career games, he is thoroughly deserving of another chance.
In just his second season of senior footy, the strong onballer is impressing his coaches and could be edging closer to a return.
Of course, spots are tight for an inside midfielder, but he could potentially be used in another area on the field if required.
