AFTER receiving seven votes in Round 8, Christian Petracca has moved into second position on the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year leaderboard.
The midfielder was Melbourne’s best player on the ground according to the coaches, with his side’s clash against Brisbane being the fourth-consecutive game he has polled votes.
Petracca managed 24 disposals in Sunday night’s defeat, 14 of which were contested, as well as eight tackles and four clearances. He also finished with nine scoring involvements.
Jack Viney was the only other Demon in those recognised, receiving four votes for his performance.
The vice-captain collected 24 disposals of his own, and recorded three tackles, three clearances and a goal.
Brisbane’s Lachie Neale was judged best afield with 10 votes, while Zac Bailey (seven votes), Jarryd Lyons (one vote) and Hugh McCluggage (one vote) rounded out the top performers.
Petracca now sits 13 votes shy of Neale, who is at the top of the leaderboard with a total of 50 votes.
