MELBOURNE Football Club’s inaugural Trident Girls Football Academy has concluded with 55 youth girls participating in a two-day Academy.
Melbourne captain Brad Green kicked off the session by talking about the importance of sport. He also talked about his football experiences and how they have influenced his life.
Green congratulated the girls for making the Academy, and encouraged them to actively participate in the range of activities offered over the two days.
Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) state coach Peta Searle shared her experiences as a player and coach.
VWFL state players Lou Wotton, Lauren Bazeley and Natalie Wood also spoke about their challenges and their football career highlights.
Melbourne academy coach Kelly O’Donnell and forward line coach Josh Mahoney put the girls through a training session highlighting the importance of team work and communication.
Leading Teams concluded the program, facilitating a values workshop, and providing practical activities around leadership and setting goals.
All participants were presented a certificate by club champion David Neitz, recognising them for completing the inaugural Trident Girls Football Academy.
