RUCKMAN Mark Jamar will face a fitness test this week and is a possibility to return for Melbourne’s clash against Adelaide Crows at the MCG on Sunday.

Jamar has played just one match in the past seven rounds after being troubled by a calf injury.

His most recent match was against Fremantle in round 16.

Football manager Josh Mahoney was optimistic about Jamar returning to play this weekend.

“Mark is progressing well from his calf injury,” he told melbournefc.com.au.

“He completed parts of training last week, and we’ll increase his loads again this week, in the hope he’ll be available to play this weekend.”

In other injury news, Melbourne will have nine players out for the rest of the 2012 season.

Defender Clint Bartram, the pacy Jamie Bennell and ruckman Max Gawn are out with knee injuries.

Power forward Mitch Clark, veteran Aaron Davey and versatile big man Stef Martin are sidelined with foot injuries

Utility Cale Morton (shoulder), forward Ricky Petterd (Achilles) and first-year Demon Rory Taggert (back) also won’t play again this year.
