Ever wanted to play on the MCG?
What bigger dream is there for a Melbourne supporter than to run onto the MCG and actually play the game?
On Sunday, 26 August, as the crowds gather beyond the boundary line, the sixth annual ‘Play For Melbourne’ curtain raiser will be held leading into Melbourne’s Round 22 encounter with Adelaide.
We are currently recruiting for a range positions on the Red Legs team. This is no ordinary team - you will be coached by Club legends John Northey and Rod Grinter. Your experience will also include:
- A training session and guernsey presentation on the Friday
- A pre-match session where you will be treated to a coach’s address in the briefing room
- Full playing kit
- Running up the players race and through the team banners created by the Club’s Cheer Squad
- AFL match on the MCG against the Club Assist Demons.
- Post match function which includes a medal presentation for all participants
- DVD of the game to take home and treasure
Alex Hirschauer played for the Red Legs team last year and said, “As a boy growing up in Melbourne, I used to dream of playing for Melbourne, of emulating the great Robbie Flower, of kicking a goal on the MCG, of winning a premiership. Then one day I played for Melbourne on the MCG, I met my hero Robbie Flower, I trained with Club legend David Neitz, and I kicked a goal in a premiership winning team, all in front of my two beautiful boys and my wonderful mum. Not even a dream could be that good!’
Playing on the hallowed turf - playing for Melbourne - is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Don’t miss out.
