Rift with Dees top brass
By Jay Clark
Tom Scully's dissatisfaction with Melbourne's administration is a key factor in him leaning heavily toward joining Greater Western Sydney. While the Giants' reported $1 million-a-season offer is a major incentive, it is believed Scully and his management have other concerns that are influencing his choice. When asked recently by a confidant to assess the likelihood of him heading north, Scully, 20, said he was 70-30. The 2009 No.1 draft pick has come under increasing pressure about his future and is understood to be unhappy with the club's handling of his contract situation. The Herald Sun can reveal: The Scully camp is at odds with the Demons over the clauses in the club's latest contract offer. His teammates have reservations about recent list management decisions, particularly the treatment of last year's skipper, James McDonald. There is tension between sections of the playing group and key club figures. The financially restrictive clauses in Melbourne's latest offer are believed to have weighed considerably in favour of Scully leaving. But Scully's manager, Peter Blucher, denied Scully was unhappy at Melbourne. "Tom is enormously happy at Melbourne, he always has been, and that is not a factor in his decision at the end of the year," Blucher said. "There is no dissatisfaction with the club, he loves the Melbourne Football Club, he has enjoyed his two years there."
