SPEEDSTER Aaron Davey has fractured his left fibula and will miss the rest of the season, the club confirmed on Monday.

Davey suffered the fracture in a marking contest, during the opening quarter of Sunday’s 21-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG.

He will be sidelined for Melbourne’s last two home and away matches against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium this Sunday and North Melbourne at the MCG in round 22.

Davey will start running in the next 4-6 weeks.

But football general manager Chris Connolly said Davey will be able to start pre-season training.

“It’s disappointing for Aaron, but he’ll be able to complete a full pre-season and it won’t hold him back for his 2011 campaign,” he told melbournefc.com.au.

Davey has played 139 matches, including all 20 this season, since debuting in 2004.

He won Melbourne’s 2009 best and fairest award and finished third in 2005.
