MELBOURNE has left out defender Joel Macdonald from its 22 for Sunday’s clash against Hawthorn at the MCG.

With James Frawley rushed back into the starting 18 on Thursday, the Demons had to make one change, which happened to be Macdonald.

No other changes have been made from the opening round draw against Sydney Swans at the MCG.

The Demons have settled with Neville Jetta, Addam Maric, Stef Martin and Ricky Petterd on their interchange.

A substitute player will be named 90 minutes before the 4.40pm twilight start.

Macdonald, Jake Spencer and Matthew Warnock are the emergencies.

It will be Frawley’s first match of the season - of any sorts - after he injured his pectoral muscle in January and missed Melbourne’s NAB Cup/Challenge campaign.

As expected, the Demons are still without key players Cale Morton, Tom Scully and Jordie McKenzie, who are sidelined through injury.
