First quarter: Western Bulldogs 0.4.3 (27) to Melbourne 0.1.2 (8)

The Bulldogs kicked the first goal of the day via Nathan Hrovat.

From there, they added another three goals to lead by 19 points at quarter-time.

Cam Pedersen was Melbourne’s only goalscorer for the term at the 11-minute mark.

Defender Tom McDonald had nine touches in the first term.

Bulldog Lin Jong had the most for the quarter with 10 disposals.

Second quarter: Western Bulldogs 0.4.5 (29) to Melbourne 0.4.4 (28)

Goals were hard to come by early in the second term.

It took 14 minutes before Jack Watts booted the first.

But it sparked a good period for Melbourne, as it added two more to trail by just one point at half-time.

Jeff Garlett added his first and when Watts booted his second in time-on, the game was in the balance.

Recruit Tom Bugg had 16 touches – the most by the long change.

Third quarter: Western Bulldogs 1.7.9 (60) to Melbourne 0.6.6 (42)

The Bulldogs opened the second half through Bailey Williams, but when Watts booted his third and Aaron vandenBerg kicked truly, Melbourne held a five-point advantage.

It was the first time since Watts registered the first behind of the day that the red and blue was in front.

But when Lukas Webb regained the lead for the Bulldogs, after booting the first nine-pointer of the match, the pendulum had swung back in favour of the Dogs.

And when Mitch Honeychurch and Jong added majors, the Bulldog led by 18 points at three quarter-time.

Jack Viney had 20 disposals by the main break.

Final quarter: Melbourne 0.10.12 (72) d Western Bulldogs 1.7.9 (60)

With the Bulldogs starting the term three goals in front, Melbourne fought back brilliantly in the final term to set up a fine win.

Dom Tyson, James Harmes, Nathan Jones and Sam Frost kicked four unanswered goals for the red and blue to give Melbourne a 12-point win.

The Bulldogs were held goalless as Melbourne made it two from two NAB Challenge matches.

Melbourne will play St Kilda at Etihad Stadium next Sunday in its final pre-season hit-out before the season proper.

Viney had a game-high 25 disposals.
