RICHELLE ‘Rocky’ Cranston, who kicked the match-winning goal against GWS Giants at Casey Fields on Saturday, says she had a disappointing start, which led to her outstanding second half.
Cranston said she was frustrated with her game early on, before she hit back with three goals in the second half, including two in the final term and the last for the match.
“I had a pretty slow start, so I thought I better get going,” she told melbounefc.com.au.
“I got a bit angry that I hadn’t had many touches, so Mick [Stinear] said to get a couple and I did one better.
“I had no idea how that goal went in – I just heard Daisy say ‘get it on the boot’ and lucky it went through.”
Cranston said she was proud of her team, given GWS pushed the Demons all the way.
“It was really good. I think the girls really fought it out,” she said.
“GWS came out firing and they’ve really improved, so credit to us to get the win.
“They (GWS) were really fit and I think the competition has really stepped up. We proved that we were just as fit and we could match them and luckily we got the win.”
