Colin Garland must pass a fitness test before taking on Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Sunday
DEFENDER Colin Garland must pass a fitness test before taking on Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Sunday.
Garland jarred his knee in the second half against Hawthorn in round two.
Although he pulled up well after the match, he needs to get through training this week.
It is a much better result than initially expected when he fell immediately to the ground.
In better news, Cale Morton is set to return this weekend.
At this stage, it’s unknown if he will be rushed back into the side or return via Casey in the VFL.
Midfielders Tom Scully (knee) and Jordie McKenzie (groin) are still set to return after Melbourne’s bye in round five.
Ruckman Robert Campbell (achilles) has been penciled in for a return in May.
Rookie Cameron Johnston (ankle) faces a fitness test, but fellow first-year players Jeremy Howe and Troy Davis are on target for a return this weekend.
Howe, who missed last weekend with an ankle injury, will train to play in the VFL and Davis is set to step up his preparation after recently battling a thyroid issue.
