PRESIDENT Jim Stynes has urged all Melbourne supporters to sign up and join the club - and in the process reach 40,000 members for the first time in the red and blue’s history.

Stynes said the Demons had set the challenge to smash last year’s record total of 33,358 members.

“We achieved a lot in 2010 - record membership, we cleared out debt, we had crowds at the footy and crowds that made noise, the MCC was full once more and we took steps forward on the field,” told melbournefc.com.au.

“There were all great achievements but just stepping stones in our path to ultimate success. For the first time in the club’s history, I feel like 40,000 members is achievable.

“To think that we could be one of the biggest membership clubs in Melbourne - we are Melbourne, the club of the city - to get to 40,000 we’ll need around 10,000 new members. I think we can do it.”

Let Your Demon Out - 40,000 membership campaign
“Let Your Demon Out and help us reach 40,000 members for the first time in our history. To achieve this we need 10,000 new members and for all 2010 members to renew. Help make the MCG a sea of red and blue on match days. Urge your friends, family and colleagues to join our great club today by purchasing a membership and coming to the footy in 2011.” Jim Stynes.

Stynes acknowledged 40,000 members was a lofty target, but an achievable one.

“It would really be something if we could get there in 2011,” he said.

“We currently have 23,500 signed up, which is 2500 ahead of the same time last year.

“There are still 10,000 members form 2010 who haven’t renewed yet.”

Stynes said he is itching for the season to start.

“I can’t wait for the season to start. I can’t wait to go to our round one match,” he said.

“I can’t wait for the chance to play Collingwood again, and beat them this time.

“I can’t wait to have the press conference to announce that we hit 40,000 members.”
