6:30 - Wake up and go for a Run! (Well almost, think about it then roll back over)
7:30 - Wake up and get ready for coaches meeting.
8:30 - Arrive at AAMI Park, I still have a spring in my step every morning I arrive at this place. The facilities for the players and the fit out of our area are great. It is inspiring to walk past the 12 premiership cups to my office every morning.
9:00 - Coaches meeting. This is our final meeting before the Swans game. Here we finalise our tactics and match ups. Much of the discussion is spent on Adam Goodes, Ryan O’Keefe and their running defence.
10:15 - Training begins. This final session is short and sharp, plenty of touches at good intensity. We finish the session with goal kicking. The boys all kick well.
11:30 - Team Meeting. Each coach presents to the team, the tactics for each area of the ground. By now, the players are well aware of what is happening. Any further questions they have, they are encouraged to discuss prior to game.
12:15 - Team Meeting ends. I change out of my MFC tracksuit and get ready for the road trip down to Geelong.
12:45 - Drive down to Geelong with Bails (Dean Bailey) and Welly (Sean Wellman). We play Brisbane next week and this is the first opportunity we’ve had to see them live for the past three weeks.
1:57 - We realise that we are going to arrive just in time; we just need a good park. Bails spots one out of the corner of his eye, in a dead end street, next to Skilled Stadium. With his new Volvo and some textbook driving, he manoeuvres his way in, which he was pretty happy with.
2:05 - Arrive at the stadium and take our seats. Dave Dunbar has organised some amazing seats in the Reg Hickey Stand, which are behind glass. This is the weirdest place that I have ever watched footy from. Picture 300 people, enclosed behind glass watching a game of football. At one stage one supporter screamed “BALL” and everybody looked at him and laughed. You get away with a bit more outside.
3:15 - Half-time and Geelong are in complete control. Start wondering if the rumours about Gary Ablett looking for a house in Melbourne, suggest that he may be interested in coming to the Demons!
4:30 - With a couple pages of notes and some ideas running through my head we head back to the car, and drive home. In the car we start to discuss possible match ups and plans for the Lions next week at the Gabba. They have had a tough run at late, but they are a different side up there.
6:00 - Arrive home. My three kids run to the door, which is always a good feeling. Dinner and put the kids to bed.
7:30 - Start flicking between the Kangaroos and Bombers game and the Eagles and Blues. While watching the footy, I catch up on uni studies, which I have left to the last minute. I am in my second last subject of an MBA, which will be finished at the end of the year.
10:30 - Have one more look at some of the set ups for the Swans game, then go to bed dreaming of another win.
