MELBOURNE has made one change to its Round 10 side, with Corey Wagner coming in to face GWS on Sunday at the MCG.
The versatile small will replace Alex Neal-Bullen, who has been ruled out with concussion.
Wagner’s selection comes after a string of impressive performances for the Casey Demons – the most recent being a 23-disposal effort last weekend against Port Melbourne.
In what will be his fifth match in the red and blue, Wagner will be eager to cement his spot after being named as an emergency each week since his last appearance in Round 5.
Braydon Preuss, Charlie Spargo and Sam Weideman will be on standby this time around, while the Demons have also decided not to recall veteran Jordan Lewis.
Despite initially being named in the extended squad, Lewis is set to return from injury via the VFL.
“Jordan has had an interrupted start to the season which has had an impact on his performances to date,” General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.
“Off the back of missing last week with an ankle injury, we think it is best for Jordan to play at Casey this week to gain some form and give him the best chance to perform at AFL level in the future.”
As part of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, Melbourne will be wearing its unique Indigenous Guernsey, while the team will also run out to a special rendition of ‘It’s a Grand Old Flag’.
Sung in the traditional language of the Wurundjeri people, Woiwurrung, the theme song has been recorded by Chenile Chandler and translated by Senior Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Joy Murphy.
To further celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and their contribution to Australian Football, former star Jeff Farmer will present the umpires with the match ball pre-game.
Melbourne’s Indigenous Guernsey, which has been designed by Santa Teresa artist Mary Young, can be purchased from the Demon Shop, with both adult and youth sizes available.
