BALL movement coach Mark Williams runs through the 22 players who played in Melbourne’s loss against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday

Rohan Bail: Rohan stood Daniel Wells, who is a very important player for North. He continues to gain valuable experience by playing on the competition guns and will again learn from this experience. It was unfortunate Ro was injured in the second half, as he’s been a good contributor so far this season.

Jamie Bennell: Jamie started as a sub and came on in the second half. We see glimpses of his attributes - his speed, agility and ability, but he needs to get to the fall of the ball. He is not far away from good form.

Clint Bartram: Barty had his hands full with Brent Harvey. He stayed focused on the job at hand and will gain great experience from the role he played. Overall, he was solid.

Aaron Davey: Aaron was in and out of the game. He did some really good things with the ball, but he missed a couple of targets with his kicks, which is unlike Flash. When he gets the ball, good things happen for us. He needs to continue to work on the structure within his game.

Lynden Dunn: Lynden was used in various roles, but didn’t have a great game. He’s an important player because of his size and his ability to compete. He needs to keep focusing on making good decisions.

James Frawley: Frawley was outstanding. His ability to win the ball one-on-one and the way he uses his speed is very important for our team. He’s back to some cracking form that’s come about after a lot of hard-work.

Colin Garland: Garlo was injured early but battled on. His early form in the game was solid, as was his ability to spoil and win the ball at ground level. When he went down, it left a big hole in our backline.

Brad Green: Greeny played a solid game. He wasn’t outstanding and he did some pretty good things in important parts of the game. He needs to keep driving other players to perform and make sure he continues to focus on his individual game.

Jordan Gysberts: Jordie showed some really good signs in the development of his game. He played intelligently around the stoppages and set up well structurally. Jordie continues to win the hard ball inside and make good decisions with his hands.

Neville Jetta: Nev’s aggression was good, particularly his physicality with his tackling - he had 12 tackles. We now want Nev to be more involved in the play around the ground and have a greater influence with his ball use.

Nathan Jones: Nathan is in outstanding form. He’s playing the game on his terms and his physicality and effort was excellent. His adherence to structures is not only helping the team, but assisting his performances. He playing with great spirit and is leading by example.

Liam Jurrah: Liam has to make sure he moves around a lot more and plays the game on his terms. His strength is his movement and speed, along with his ability to jump and mark the ball. He needs to give himself more opportunities by working harder.

Addam Maric: Addam continues to hit the scoreboard and kicked a career-best three goals. We need him taking the game on more and using his kicking skills to benefit the team. The more he gets the ball, the more confident he will become.

Stef Martin: Stef’s first quarter was outstanding. His ruck work, aggression and follow up work was excellent. His involvement was consistent. He had a solid game and continues to take steps forward which is pleasing.

Brent Moloney: Although Beamer didn’t have a big influence on the game, his leadership and ability to stay focused on his task was very pleasing. He worked hard to get to Andrew Swallow at the stoppages and played his role for the team.

Michael Newton: Juice started like a house on fire. The way he attacked the ball early was fantastic. He had some stints in the ruck where he gave us a contest. He needs to keep doing the basics well and stay involved in the game.

Ricky Petterd: Ricky kicked two goals. His work rate was good but he didn’t have a big influence on the game. He continues to play a role each week for the team. I can feel he’s not far away from a big performance.

Colin Sylvia: Col played an even game. He bashed and crashed inside and spread hard when the opportunity arose. We expect a lot from Col, because he’s very important to our ball movement. He needs to keep focusing on his use of the ball and his consistent involvement in the game.

Luke Tapscott: Lukey was a bit quiet this week. He had 13 possessions, but his ability to influence the game with his ball use was evident. He continues to gain valuable experience playing with the other backs, which helps the synergy of the group.

Matthew Warnock: Matty was solid again. He played on Drew Petrie, who didn’t kick a goal. Matty took some really good marks and switched play well. He also took the game on, his ability to compete one-on-one was excellent.

Jack Watts: Wattsy had another good game. He was lively early and competed really well. He won more of his own ball and continues to tackle and apply pressure, which has been his focus in the past three weeks. His distribution of the ball down back also helped us set up some important passages of play.

Austin Wonaeamirri: Aussie was in and out of the game and probably didn’t make the most of his opportunities. He had his chances in front of goal, but didn’t quite nail them when we needed him to. He needs to keep working on his finishing and his forward pressure.
