Trengove said Bailey’s move to ground level, instead of the coaches’ box, offered valuable assistance to his game.
“I personally really liked it, because it was good to get that feedback straight up,” he said from a media conference at Gosch’s Paddock on Tuesday.
“You don’t have to wait for quarter-time or half-time.
“It’s good, because as soon as you get off [the ground], you get that feedback and you can really act on it, when you get back on.
“You don’t have to worry about picking up the phone, nervous about what he’s going to say.”
It was the first time Bailey coached from the bench in an AFL premiership match, but it remains unknown if it will become at the norm at this stage.
Meanwhile, Trengove was asked if he had ever taken caffeine or sleeping tablets before a match.
The issue came to the fore following Richmond star Ben Cousins being admitted to hospital on Monday due to an adverse reaction to a sleeping tablet.
“I’ve never taken caffeine or sleeping tablets before,” Trengove said.
