A BIG win on the road against the Suns has given the young Melbourne Demons confidence it can improve its interstate record, utility Jack Trengove said.

The Demons ran away from the Suns in the last quarter, kicking eight goals to one to win by 90 points.

It was their third interstate win in 16 games under coach Dean Bailey.

Trengove was instrumental in the big win, gathering 29 disposals, including seven hard-ball gets, and kicking two goals.

"It is always tough travelling interstate and the pressure was on us to come out with a win," he said.

"We always try and focus on winning a few more interstate."

Trengove said the side was disappointed in allowing the Suns to win the third quarter, their first in three games.

"They would have been pumped to try and take it to us in the third quarter," he said.

The Demons will get another chance at an interstate team in two weeks when it clashes with West Coast at Patersons Stadium after the bye.

Trengove said Melbourne was up for the challenge.

"That is going to be a massive game for us, they were in great form against Hawthorn (last Saturday)," he said.

"We are going into the bye with two wins and a draw, it would have been nice to put up a better effort against Hawthorn (in Round 3) but we are happy with that."

Trengove is enjoying a fine second season with the Demons, in which he is in the top five for contested marks (four) and handballs (36).

"It is a great club to be at and I am looking forward to the future, it was good to have an impact today and get a few kicks."
