Session two of the Club’s Coach Mentor program took place at Etihad Stadium during the Melbourne v Collingwood game on Saturday 3 March.
Twenty coaches from our sponsored junior leagues sampled exclusively how game day works from a coaching staff perspective. The night began when they ventured way behind the scenes to hear from Director of Sport Performance Neil Craig and CEO Cameron Schwab before the game, taking away great insights and information as part of the experience.
Football Manager and former assistant coach, Josh Mahoney, then took the coaches through the change rooms. He explained the team’s structure for the night, focusing on key match ups and strategy.
Yarra Junior Football League Coach Joe Megzac spoke for all when he said, “It was fantastic to be able to go through the rooms and have such great people talk to us, and to give us an insight into what AFL clubs do.”
The coaches have two more sessions to complete as part of the Coach Mentor program.
