WHAT we learnt on Saturday was how far we still have to go as a football club.  The extent of the loss has brought to a head some important decisions our Club was going to have to make in coming weeks. And, as challenging and as difficult as these decisions are, these have been dealt with and we now have a clear direction.

Last night, we informed Dean Bailey that he would no longer be coaching the Club, effective immediately. At this point I would like to thank Dean.  Dean has been with our Club through a very important time in our development.  He is highly regarded by the players, staff and board and is a man of complete integrity.

In the interim, Todd Viney will act as the Club’s senior coach.  As you would all be aware, Todd is a legend of this Club, and a very experienced coach in his own right.

There have been a number of questions raised about our Club, brought to a head by the result on Saturday. First, let me deal with speculation regarding our CEO, Cameron Schwab.

In Cameron’s original contract with our Club, which expires on 31 October 2011, there was an option to renew which fell yesterday.  The board was required to advise Cameron at this time of their intentions.  This was coincidental in timing, and unrelated to this weekend’s game. Yesterday we offered Cameron an extension of his contract for one year, which he accepted.

There has also been speculation about Chris Connolly.  Chris has our full support, and will continue in his role as General Manager of Football Operations.

Press conference is being held at 12 pm and will be published on DeeTV later today.
