AFTER taking on Sydney Swans superstar Adam Goodes in the opening round, Colin Garland is ready for another significant challenge - taking on Hawthorn gun Lance Franklin this Sunday at the MCG.

The defender is likely to take Buddy, if reigning All-Australian James Frawley is not passed fit to play.

Garland spoke about the potential assignment in Tuesday Review/Preview on melbournefc.com.au.

“One week [Sydney Swans superstar Adam] Goodes and the next week Franklin … hopefully James is back this week, but if not, I guess I’ll get the job and it’s something that I’m looking forward to,” he said.

“He’s a great player and he’s great in the air and on the ground.

“If I get the assistance that I did from the other backs and the mids this week, then hopefully we can be just as successful.”
