CASEY Scorpions won a thrilling match against North Ballarat by one point at Casey Fields on Sunday afternoon.

The Scorpions and North Ballarat were evenly matched, with scores level at half-time.

Sam Blease kicked the match-winner, after snapping truly from the boundary line 40 meters out. The goal came after Blease tackled his opponent and was rewarded with a free-kick.

The majority of the scoring was down to the Berwick-Cranbourne Rd end, due to a heavy wind.

Youngster Rory Taggert played his first game and showed some good signs.

The last quarter went for 37.5 minutes, largely due to a lot of stoppages.

Midfielder Tom Couch kick a brilliant goal with three minutes to go, before North Ballarat hit back with an impressive mark and goal from Todd Goldstein.

The match was dominated by a lot of hard contested footy, while the the crowd got involved in the last quarter.

Casey showed good determination and was challenged at times, before coming out on top.
