THE MELBOURNE Football Club’s highly acclaimed Read and Write Like a Demon (RLAD) program is set to expand in 2012. With over 30 schools already involved, including a school in the Northern Territory, the Club will go beyond the City of Casey and Melbourne’s heartland in 2012.

On Monday, primary school teachers from all around Victoria gathered at the MCG to provide valuable feedback on the RLAD program.

“We are excited about launching the Read and Write Like a Demon program again in 2012. It’s been invaluable to have teachers come in and give us first hand feedback on the program. Since its inception in 2009, we have grown the program, and this year we will even have a school based in China involved in the program.” said Community Manager Debbie Lee.

Read and Write Like a Demon, which aims to improve the literacy of primary school children, also has a strong focus on using technology to connect students to players.  Programs such as Ustream and Skype allow students to engage with players via the internet. Further to Ustream and Skype, an interactive whiteboard resource is currently being developed for the program.
