OUTSTANDING youngster Tom Scully is set to miss the next four weeks due to a knee problem.
And another important Demon, midfielder Jordie McKenzie, will also be sidelined for six weeks due to a groin injury.
Scully, the 2009 No.1 NAB AFL Draft choice, recently developed soreness in his left knee and underwent scans this week.
Melbourne doctor Andrew Daff said Scully had been diagnosed with a problem to his left patella.
“The scans detected bone stress in Tom’s left knee cap,” he said.
“The best course of action is for Tom to undergo a period of rehabilitation, while resting from football loads.
“We are hopeful that he can return to play in the next four weeks.”
Former rookie McKenzie has been unable to overcome groin soreness, which has forced his layoff, according to Daff.
“Jordie has experienced an increase in groin pain due to pubic overload syndrome,” he said.
“Jordie will also require rest from football loads and will return to play in six weeks.”
As expected, key players James Frawley (shoulder) and Cale Morton (hand) are still up to two weeks away.
Premiership ruckman Robert Campbell (achilles) is still six to eight weeks away from resuming.
Promising rookie Kelvin Lawrence will miss a week with a hand injury.
Defender Tom McNamara and versatile tall Jack Fitzpatrick are battling foot injuries and will be sidelined for one to two weeks.
Troy Davis is still battling a thyroid disorder.
