A PAIR of Aaron Davey’s boots, painted by artist Michael Connelly, is now being auctioned online.
Davey’s boots are part of the ‘Qantas Boots & Dreams Exhibition’, which celebrates the outstanding influence made by the indigenous community in the AFL.
The unique exhibition includes a pair of playing boots, painted by indigenous artists, from the leading indigenous player at each of the 16 AFL clubs.
Money raised from the auction will go towards the AFL Foundation, which helps indigenous programs in the future.
By supporting Aaron Davey, it will help facilitate the dreams of the next generation of indigenous footballers in the AFL.
Connelly has used strong red and blue stripes to represent the strength and power of Davey’s rising star.
The exhibition was launched in May at Federation Square prior to Dreamtime at the ‘G and has toured prominent locations including the SCG, AFL House, Qantas domestic lounges and concluded its tour back at Federation Square during grand final week.
Davey, cousin to AFL great Gavin Wanganeen, started his career for Palmerston in the Northern Territory.
He exploded onto the AFL scene in 2004, finishing runner-up in the NAB AFL Rising Star.
A favourite with Melbourne supporters, Davey received the club’s best and fairest award for an outstanding season in 2009.
