MELBOURNE Life Member Mike Kostos has passed away, aged 94.
Kostos was a highly regarded member of the Demon family, having been a part of the club’s community for over fifty years.
His love for the Dees was evident through his involvement with Melbourne’s preeminent supporter group, Coterie, in which he was Chairman of between 1979 and 1981.
He became a Director in 1984, before being awarded Life Membership in 1986, and was also the club’s No.1 ticket holder in the early 1990s. He continued to support of Melbourne as a Foundation Hero.
Kostos’ incredible contribution to the club was recognised in 2018, when he was awarded the Ronald Dale Barassi Medal, while he was also the recipient of an Order of Australia in 2016 for his service to the sporting community.
The Melbourne Football Club extends its deepest sympathies to the Kostos family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.
Players will wear black armbands in honour of Mike Kostos when Melbourne plays Gold Coast on Saturday night.
