CASEY Scorpions notched up their first win of the season defeating Frankston by 68 points at Casey Fields on Sunday.

The final score was Casey 23.11 (149) defeated Frankston 12.9 (81).

New recruit Mitch Clisby didn’t waste any time getting his hands on the ball gathering 11 possessions in the first quarter in his first match.

The first quarter started with a really high intensity from both sides, before Casey managed to get away late in the opening term.

Ruckman Max Gawn and Jake Spencer were very good, providing Rohan Bail, Tom Couch and James Magner first use of the ball. Gawn and Spencer competed hard all day, with the former finishing with two goals.

Youngster Dean Kent showed some pace, taking a couple of bounces and kicking a goal on the run from 50m.

Luke Tapscott was outstanding up forward kicking six goals and finishing with 23 possessions.

Utility Cameron Perdersen controlled the backline in the second half, reading the play well and intercepting several marks.

Bail played his first match back from being sidelined with concussion. Bail played mainly on the ball and collected 20 possessions in his first hit out for the year.

Major possession winners were Magner (34), Couch (32), Tapscott, Clisby and Michael Evans all finished with 23 touches, while Pedersen and Bail had 21 and 20 possessions respectively.

Aside from Tapscott, the major goalkickers were Gawn, Bail and Jesse Hoagn, who all finished with two each.

Casey will take on North Ballarat next Saturday at Eureka Stadium at 2pm.
