INJURIES to Aaron Sandilands and Hayden Ballantyne have cast a cloud over Fremantle's barnstorming run into the 2013 finals series, as the Dockers humbled Melbourne by 95 points at the MCG on Sunday.

Sandilands left the field in the first quarter with blood streaming from a wound on the left side of his forehead which also appeared bruised and swollen.

He was subbed out soon after, replaced by Tom Sheridan.

The Demons themselves suffered badly on the injury front losing Sam Blease (twisted ankle) and James Strauss (wrist) by half-time, forcing them to bring their substitute Aaron Davey on early.

Hayden Ballantyne continued his impressive season with four goals before suffering a late wrist injury while Matthew Pavlich finally broke loose of Tom McDonald to also kick four. David Mundy had 34 possessions and Danyle Pearce accumulated 32.

Jack Viney was comfortably Melbourne's best player, showing wonderful intensity despite an early blow to the nose. He finished with 28 touches while Dean Terlich had 25.

Fremantle put the contest to bed early, keeping Melbourne goalless in the first quarter while they kicked 4.5. The Demons were competitive in the second quarter but a five-goal to one third term ended the argument and the Dockers cruised away with another six unanswered goals in the final quarter.
