NEIL Craig has flagged the possibility of Melbourne unearthing some further uncapped talent in its last nine matches of the season.

Speaking on The Craig Report, the coach pointed to the likes of Troy Davis, Dom Barry and Rory Taggert as players in the mix to debut before season’s end.

“[Casey coach] Rohan Welsh is doing a great job with those players,” Craig said.

“Names like Troy Davis, who is playing really good football down there, Rory Taggert is starting to play some good football, and Josh Tynan is playing some good football.

“A young guy called Dom Barry, who continues to impress and guys like Luke Tapscott are finding some form as well, and we’ve got [Tom] Couch and [James] Magner.

“So we’ve got a lot of players down there [at Casey] … who are putting real pressure on selection, which is only healthy for our footy club. Hopefully we’ll get to see another one or two players before the end of the year … guys who maybe haven’t played AFL footy before.”

Craig said last Saturday night’s win over the Western Bulldogs at the MCG brought a lot of joy to Melbourne supporters.

“It put some smiles on people’s faces, which was fantastic for our club and exactly what we needed,” he said.

But he said the challenge was to back it up with a competitive showing against the Swans at the MCG this round.

“Of course, we’re coming up against a fantastic opponent in the Sydney Swans, so we couldn’t have got a better game against a fantastic opponent at the MCG on Sunday.

“We need as many supporters as possible to get there, to give the guys as much support as you can, and we look forward to a highly competitive game and a great opportunity to come up against a really good opponent.”
