LAST WEEK
St Kilda: The Saints ground out a hard-fought 23-point win against the Sydney Swans. They trailed for much of the game, but stormed home with five goals to one in the final term to seal the result.
Melbourne: Travelling to Renmark in South Australia, the Demons out-muscled an undermanned Power lineup for their first win of the season. In the absence of Chris Dawes, James Sellar booted five goals and rookie James Magner put his hand up for elevation on to the senior list and a round one berth.
WE SAY
St Kilda: The Saints will welcome back a few of their more experienced players for their round three assignment against the Demons. Coach Scott Watters has already made it plainly clear that he doesn't place much emphasis on pre-season wins, with the club's preparations geared around round one of the home and away season.
Melbourne: The Demons will be eager to perform well in front of their adopted home shire of Casey in the south-east of Melbourne. Following on from their first win of the season, Melbourne will also look to build on their momentum entering round one. While a number of their senior players are sidelined by injuries, the club's young players have been impressive this pre-season.
