THE MELBOURNE Football Club wishes to advise that Peter Spargo has decided not to nominate for a further three-year term as a director of the Club.
Spargo commenced as a director of the Club in 2008 and is currently Vice-President. He has held the roles of Interim President, Acting CEO and has been integral in his leadership and contribution to the Foundation Heroes - the leading fundraising group in the AFL.
Peter Spargo said "I have decided not to re-nominate and will spend more time focused on my extensive business and family commitments. I think it is also the right time, having being involved in steadying the ship over the last 12 months working closely with Glen Bartlett, Peter Jackson and the rest of the Board. I also think it is time to step aside and allow the Board to be further refreshed. I have therefore resigned with immediate effect as Vice -President and a member of the Board along with various commitments."
"I wish Glen and the rest of the Board the best of luck in pursuing what every Melbourne person - and every possible football person would like to see - the Melbourne Football Club back at the top end of the table as a very strong and viable Club. I will of course remain a passionate supporter and contributor in any way I can to the Melbourne Football Club".
Melbourne President Glen Bartlett said "Peter Spargo has made a significant contribution to this football club in a variety of roles over many years. On behalf of the Club we thank Peter for his contribution; he will be missed around the board table and we wish him all of the very best in his future endeavours. We are fortunate as a Club to have outstanding bench strength of potential directors and hope to announce Peter's replacement shortly."
