COACH Paul Roos has confirmed Melbourne’s Monday review of its 23-point loss to the Brisbane Lions at Etihad Stadium on Sunday went much longer than usual.

Roos said the players were pretty honest in assessing their performance, when they went through the vision at AAMI Park, the day after the disappointing performance.

“It was an opportunity for the players’ yesterday (Monday) afternoon to watch their own game in their entirety, which was good and to give some feedback,” he said from AAMI Park on Monday.

“So it took a little bit longer than what we expected.”

Despite being frustrated with his side squandering a 14-point lead in the early stages of the final term, Roos said the Demons had still closed the gap somewhat after winning just two matches last year.

“Where it stands now is that we’re in games … and from a positive point of view, Melbourne supporters are now seeing some really good passages of play, but then all of a sudden within games – like what we did in the last 15 minutes – its drops off,” he said.

“Over the course of the season, we’ve definitely narrowed the gap in our best and our worst, but certainly the next challenge is to be more consistent in games.”
