COACH Paul Roos says former co-captain Jack Grimes simply forced his way back into the side, after strong form with Casey.
Grimes, who was overlooked for the opening four rounds, has been recalled for Sunday’s clash against Fremantle at the MCG.
Although Roos said Grimes was effectively replacing defender Neville Jetta (concussion), he added that Grimes’ form in the VFL was too good to ignore.
“It’s really pleasing for Grimesy because he’s been banging the door down and his form has been terrific,” he said on Roos’ Views.
“With Nev going out [of the side], it’s been a straight swap.
“As good as Nev’s been, hopefully we don’t lose anything, but we’ve got our ex-captain coming back in, in really good form. He’s showed in the past he can play some really good senior footy, so that’s a good ‘in’ for us and we’re really pleased for Grimesy.”
