MIDFIELDER Bernie Vince says there is no chance the Giants will win their third consecutive match against the Demons this round.

An adamant Vince said his side was simply “not going to let it happen” and it would not drop its second match of the season to GWS.

“We don’t want to lose to another side twice in one year, so it’s a big game for us,” he said at AAMI Park on Friday.

“They’re pretty close to us – percentage wise we’re [just] above them.

“We’ve very close on the ladder and you like to beat the sides around you, which we haven’t actually done this year.

“All the teams around us, we’ve seemed to lose to, so it’s a big game for us this weekend.”

Vince also urged the Melbourne faithful to attend Sunday’s clash at the ‘G.

“We’re hoping to get a few out there, because we think we’re a big chance to win. Hopefully all of our members will come out to our last game at the ‘G for this year,” he said.

“Hopefully we can get a lot of people out there and it’s a nice day and people will come out … we’ll be hoping for a win anyway.”

Vince said the Demons were using their final three rounds of the 2014 season as building blocks for next year.

“It’d be great to finish off well and then going into the break. Individually, [it’s a great opportunity] for the guys to show what they’ve got to the coaching staff and group,” he said.

“At the end of each year, there are lists changes, so there are guys in positions that have got to play well and prove something before the season’s out. There is certainly a lot to play for.”

The former Crow reflected on his first year at the Demons and said he “loved the move” to Melbourne, but always “knew it was going to be a big challenge”.

“We’ve lost a few games that we probably should have won and that would have been a benchmark year if we’d won that,” he said.

“There has been a lot of development and a lot of change to the club, with new players like myself and the new coaching staff, so it’s all a big learning curve, but we’ve set a really good foundation now for going into next year.

“We’re certainly looking to build on that and hopefully have a few more wins next year.”

Vince said he had relished playing under Paul Roos, who had the ability to “simplify everything” as a coach.

“He gives guys clear roles and it’s not about getting heaps of the footy a lot of the time. It’s more about being really big on the defensive stuff and just playing your role, so that’s playing for yourself, which helps the team,” he said.
