JACK Viney has no case to answer following his collision with West Coast captain Shannon Hurn during Melbourne’s thrilling three-point win at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.
The match review panel assessed the incident, but said no further action was necessary.
“Contact between Melbourne’s Jack Viney and West Coast’s Shannon Hurn from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed,” the MRP statement said.
“The ball was loose in the air after a high handball forward from Melbourne’s Christian Petracca. Hurn and Viney were coming to the ball from opposite directions with eyes focussed on the ball. Viney jumped into the air with both arms outstretched in a bid to win possession and made high contact to Hurn.
“It was the view of the panel that Viney was contesting the ball and no further action was taken.”
Meanwhile, West Coast’s Will Schofield can accept a one-match suspension for striking midfielder Clayton Oliver.
