DAY two of Dees in Darwin sees Russell ‘Robbo’ Robertson and ruckman Mark Jamar head to the Ltyentye Apurte Community (also known as Santa Teresa), about 80km south-east of Alice Springs, to conduct a football clinic.
Jamar tells Robbo that it’s a great experience.
“It’s great fun. The kids love it and there are some pretty special skills on show. It’s good to just get amongst it and say ‘g’day’ and ask them who their favourite players are – none of them are me, but that’s all right,” he tells Dee TV with a smile.
Jamar, who has missed the past four matches with a foot injury, tells Robbo that he’s disappointed not to be playing this Saturday night against the Lions at TIO Stadium.
“It’s pretty special [to play in Darwin]. Everyone’s so sweaty and the ball’s like a cake of soap and you’ve got to try and hang onto it, so it is like a game of wet weather footy and we had that last week [against Geelong at Simonds Stadium],” he tells Dee TV.
“Hopefully I’ll be about a month away by the time I reload the foot and get some match fitness in the twos. Hopefully I’ll put my best foot forward to get back into the team.”
