MIDFIELDER Dom Tyson and key forward Chris Dawes are expected to play against Hawthorn at the MCG this Saturday, despite both players suffering niggling injuries in recent weeks.
Elite performance manager Dave Misson said Tyson (knee) and Dawes (calf) trained on Tuesday and should be right for round seven.
“Dom had [previously] tweaked his MCL (medial collateral ligament) … and it was a kick around the corner [on Saturday night], where he tweaked that MCL again,” he told Dee TV.
“It stung for 30 seconds and then when he got up, he was OK and he started running around again.
“He trained today (Tuesday), so he’ll be fine.”
Misson said Dawes missed round five with a calf injury and experienced further problems with it against the Swans.
“Dawesy missed the previous week [against Fremantle] with some calf tightness and just felt a little bit of tightness early in the game [against Hawthorn]. [He] came off and got some work done and really got through the game no problems,” Misson said.
“He had a bit of a run today (Tuesday) and we’ll see how he goes at training on Thursday, but we expect him to play.”
Meanwhile, second-year Demon Jayden Hunt came through unscathed last weekend after missing almost a year with a back injury.
The speedy youngster played in the AFL Victoria Development League against Sandringham at Casey Fields.
“He got through nearly 60 minutes in the Development [League] and importantly pulled up pretty well, so we’ll just keep increasing his game time over the next two weeks,” Misson said.
“It’s good to see him out there again after so long.”
